Images for a Seal

Images for a Seal

If you make a choice to use your own image for a seal, you must take steps to ensure it is suitable for use.

The image must be of good quality but there are many other aspects to what will be useful and we ask you to test your image before submitting it. The image you submit WILL be used even if we deem it to be unsuitable. Your seal will be with you for life, so choose very carefully and make sure it is what you want. Admins will not be making judgements on your own private selections and will not make any guarantees that your image is suitable for a seal, a stamp or to be embossed, there is enough information provided on these pages for you to read before submitting your application.

You can test your image for quality by opening it into a simple graphic program like MS Paint which is installed on most computers, some phones have similar editing options. Change the colour of your image to a solid colour and then shrink the image to 10% or 2 cm and you will see the end result, however, we cannot guarantee the same result as we do not use these programs to make the seals.

Your image must have a white or transparent background and the image must be suitable to fit into a very small space. The digital seal (and stamps) are usually only 4cm wide.

Family crest images, in colour or not must be tested prior to submission. Many crests or shields submitted are only suitable for use in the original colours submitted and do not adjust well to a solid colour change.

Simple line drawing images are the best quality for seals but must be of good quality, fine lines do not work out well. Please view the samples below and on other pages we have on this website.

Here are samples of a crest change of colour that will show these images do not suit well unless they are outline drawing images.
